SKYWARN Training Print E-mail

National Weather Service Annual SKYWARN Training

The Fort Worth office of the National Weather Service (NWS) will conduct their annual Basic Skywarn class in Coppell on Saturday, February 11, 9 a.m. to noon.  The class, hosted by Coppell RACES/ARES and Coppell Fire Department’s Emergency Management Division, will be held in the Coppell Fire Department Training Facility behind Fire Station #3, 133 Parkway Blvd.


This free class is open to the public.  No special pre-requisites or training is necessary.  Basic Skywarn training will be presented by Mr. Bill Bunting, NWS Fort Worth Meteorologist-In-Charge. The class will cover:
* Basics of thunderstorm development
* Fundamentals of storm structure
* Identifying potential severe weather features
* Information to report
* How to report information
* Basic severe weather safety
