To pay in person with check or cash, our office at 255 Parkway Blvd is open Monday-Friday, 8 am to 5 pm and Wednesday until 7 pm.

Mission

The responsibility of the Tax Department is to verify the inclusion of all taxable property, review property values set by the Dallas Central Appraisal District, monitor exemptions, and productivity valuations thus ensuring the accuracy of the tax roll. Submit the tax roll to the City Council for approval, calculate and publish the effective tax rate in accordance with the truth-in-taxation laws, and levy an ad valorem tax based on the rate adopted by the City Council. Bill, collect, and account for all real and personal property taxes, in accordance with State Property Tax Law. Provide the best possible customer service within and outside the organization.

Property Tax Rate

The 2012 property tax rate is $0.67046/$100 taxable valuation.

Available Property Tax Exemptions

  • Property tax exemptions to homeowners who reside on the property*
  • Property tax exemptions for homeowners 65 years and older **·
  • Property tax exemptions for homeowners with disabilities ** ·
  • Freeport Exemption

*   This exemption reduces the assessed value by 5% or $5,000, which ever is higher.
** These exemptions reduce the assessed value by $75,000.

Property Tax Statements

Property tax statements are mailed out during October of each year and penalties and interest begin accruing on February 1st. If you pay your City/School taxes directly to the City of Coppell rather than through your mortgage company, and do not receive a tax statement, please contact our office at 972-304-3694.

Please contact the Dallas Central Appraisal District at 214-631-0910, or Denton Central Appraisal District at metro 972-434-2602 or 940-349-3800, if you have questions concerning the value of your property or want to apply for a property tax exemption.

Other Helpful Information

Customers requiring a receipt by mail for their tax payment should enclose the payment portion of their tax statement and a self-addressed stamped envelope along with their payment. A receipt will be mailed to the customer. If you need additional information regarding copies of receipts for tax payments, call 972-304-3694.

Sales Tax Rate

The current sales tax rate in Coppell is 8.25%. The City retains 2.0%. 1% is designated for City Operations. One-half of one percent is a special 4B sales tax that is being used to fund specific park related projects. The remaining one-half of one percent is split between a one-fourth of one percent sales and use tax to provide revenue for the maintenance and repair of existing city streets, and the adoption of a one-fourth of one percent sales and use tax to provide revenue for the creation of a crime control and prevention district for crime reduction programs.
