Household Hazard Waste Disposal

Residents can have their Household Hazardous Waste and E-Waste collected right from their front door.  Waste Management provides an "At Your Door Special Collection Service" to dispose of household hazardous waste (HHW), and e-waste (electronic waste such as TV's, VCR's, Computer Monitors, and Consumer Electronics with Circuit Boards).

Americans generate 1.6 million tons of household hazardous waste a year.  The average home can accumulate as much as 100 pounds of household hazardous waste. Household hazardous wastes are sometimes disposed of improperly by pouring them down the drain, on the ground, into storm sewers, or putting them out with the trash.  The dangers of such disposal methods might not be immediately obvious, but improper disposal of these wastes can pollute the environment and pose a threat to human health.

In addition to HHW collection, the "At Your Door Special Collection Service" offers the residents of Coppell an opportunity to recycle electronic wastes.  Computers, laptops, monitors, telephones, cell phones, keyboards, mice, cd-roms, televisions, vcr's, cd-players, stereos, microwave ovens, fax machines, desk top copiers, scanners and printers will be collected.

For future reference, remember to:

REDUCE - Purchase hazardous materials thoughtfully. Consider reducing your purchase of products that contain hazardous ingredients. Learn about the use of alternative methods or products-without hazardous ingredients-for some common household needs. Don't buy a gallon of paint when a quart will do.
REUSE - If you have a product that is usable but you don't need or want to use it, give it to a neighbor or relative who will use it as it is intended.
RECYCLE - Quality products and packaging are being made from recycled materials that have been recovered from the waste stream.  By and use recycled products.
