Junior Police Academy - Coppell (JPAC)
The Coppell Police Department's J.P.A.C. (Junior Police Academy Coppell) is a great opportunity for the youth of Coppell to learn what it takes to be a police officer. During this one-week academy, the students gain some insight into the multiple functions their local law enforcement professionals perform on a daily basis. The students learn about laws, enforcement practices and procedures, and other pertinent information that can affect them in their community. This program is designed for middle-school aged students and is available to anyone who has completed the 6th grade, but has yet to begin high school.
Officers of the Coppell Police Department provide the students instruction on many different facets of the police profession, including patrol work, handling crime scenes, SWAT operations, K-9 handling, and conducting building searches. They learn a lot and hopefully have a ton of fun in the process. Ever rappelled off a building? If the answer is no, this might be the place for you! Each session follows a daily schedule:

Sessions Dates and Application:
Th JPAC Academy will have 3 Summer Sessions for 2013. Each Session is Monday through Friday 8 am to 3 pm for 1 week.
Session I: June 10th thru 14th at The Coppell Police Department.
Session II: July 29th thru August 2nd at The Coppell Police Department
Session III: August 5th thru 9th at The Coppell Police Department
There is no cost for the camp and it is open to C.I.S.D. students who have completed the 6th, 7th, or 8th grade as of June 2013. Students interested in attending one of the sessions must complete the Academy Application and the Health/Medical Form. Students can pick up both forms from their Middle School Campus Police Officer or the Coppell Police Department. The application and forms can be returned to the student's campus Police Officer or to Sgt. Cayce Williams at the Coppell Police Station at 130 Town Center Blvd.

After the Academy
Upon graduating from the Academy, students are eligible to volunteer for several programs sponsored by the Coppell Police Department. During National Night Out (NNO), JPAC graduates visit the block parties and hand out prizes to the children. Graduates also have several opportunities to help out at other NNO functions and police-sponsored events. Are you interested? If so, please contact Officer R.J. Harr at 972-304-3625.
