Use of the Library
- The William T. Cozby Public Library is open to the public and offers free use of the InfoStations, books, magazines, and newspapers within the library. To check-out library materials or access Internet computers, borrowers must have a current William T. Cozby Public Library card. Application for a library card may be made online. Once you have completed your self-registration form, please come to the library with your photo ID and proof of your current residence. You will have 30 days to complete this process before your registration expires.
- Each person wishing to borrow materials from the library must must complete an online application form and agree to comply with the rules of the library, pay all fines, make good any loss or damage to books, and give immediate notice of change of address. A parent/guardian must sign the library card application for minor children. A minor is anyone under the age of 18. Anyone 18 and older must show proof of identification. This includes a valid Texas driver's license or Texas identification card. If a temporary Texas driver's license is produced, then some other form of official photo ID must also be shown. If an adult applicant does not have a valid Texas driver's license or an ID card, he/she must show another state's driver's license and proof of Texas residency.
- A current photo ID and verification of current street address must be presented in person at the Library Accounts desk to verify the online application and receive the library card. Anyone who lives or owns property in the City of Coppell may apply for a library card. Free library cards will also be issued to residents of communities in Collin, Dallas, Denton, or Tarrant counties, that offer reciprocal and comparable library services to Coppell residents. Fee cards will be issued to residents of communities in Collin, Dallas, Denton, or Tarrant counties with non-reciprocal or non-comparable library services. If a non-resident seeking a William T. - Borrowers must use their library card to check out materials.
- Books and audiobooks may be borrowed for a period of three weeks. DVDs may be borrowed for one week. Circulating magazines may be borrowed for one week.
- Materials may be renewed via the library catalog under the My Account tab, or by phoning TeleMessaging, 972-304-7066. Two renewals are permitted, unless someone else has requested the item.
- Two (2) items may be checked out on the first visit. On subsequent visits, the number of materials to be checked out is 40, 10 of which can be DVDs.
- Fines and damages owing on materials must be paid before other items can be borrowed.
- A fine of 10 cents per day will be assessed for books, magazines, and audiobooks. A fine of $1.00 per day will be assessed for DVDs.
- Materials must be checked out before being taken from the library.
- Reference materials are for use in the library only.
- Requested materials will be held for 7 days, notice will be made by E-mail, TeleMessaging, or USPS mail to the address of record.
- If a replacement library card is issued, a fee of $1.00 will be charged.
Children in the Library
The William T. Cozby Public Library welcomes children to use its facilities and services. However, responsibility for children using the library rests with the parent/guardian or assigned adult chaperon. A parent or responsible adult, 18 years of age or older, must accompany children under the age of ten (10). Children ten and older, who are unaccompanied by a parent or guardian, will be expected to act in an adult manner.
