FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC 

COPPELL FIRE DEPARTMENT
 
The City of Coppell is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic.  Minimum requirements include high school diploma or equivalent, valid State of Texas driver's license, and Basic Firefighter Certificate (TCFP) and Paramedic certification.  In addition, the following combination of certifications will also be considered:
*Basic Firefighter Certificate (TCFP) and be enrolled and in good standing in Paramedic school.
*Paramedic certification and be enrolled and in good standing in Fire Academy.
*Ability to pass Physical Agility Assessment, Oral Review Board, Fire Chief interview, Written Test, Medical Physical, Drug Screening,      Background Investigation, Psychological Profile and Polygraph Exam.  
 
Starting Salary for Certified FF/Paramedic: $51,130.56 annualized

FIRE INTERN
FIRE DEPARTMENT
 
The City of Coppell is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Fire Department Intern.  The Intern will be preparing and entering fire and life-safety data in the Coppell Fire Department database.  The Intern must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, codes, and ordinances.  Computer data entry and digital photography skills will be essential.  The Intern position requires the following college courses to apply: Fire Safety Hazards Recognition, Fire Suppression & Detection Systems, Automatic Fire Suppression Systems, and Water Supply Hydraulics for Fire Protection.  Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to interact with the public in a manner which may require obtaining cooperation of people while displaying professionalism, courtesy and tact when dealing with moderately difficult or sensitive situations.  Strong decision making skills is a must.  Valid driver's license and a good driving record is required.  Must be able to complete a background and drug screen. 
 
 

 

Environmental Programs Intern
Parks Department
 
The City of Coppell is seeking an ecoCoppell program intern.  This position will work with the Community Programs Division on environmental outreach, education, and monitoring with the city’s sustainability team.  The successful candidate will be trained to work with Energy Star for facilities and the Service Center Environmental Management System.  The intern position will assist with Volunteer management/programs in community garden and environmental education programs.  Intern must be a College Student, preferably in Environmental Studies/Sciences, Jr/Senior or Graduate Level, 3.4 grade point average or above.  Internship must be part of degree program, with advisor/professor recommendation.  The ability to complete accurate and detailed work is essential.  Excellent interpersonal skills are a must.  The intern must be willing to learn in a municipal government setting.  Additionally must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and online programs.  The work schedule will be Monday through Friday with additional hours on Saturdays totaling 20 Hr/week.  The position will start in the spring semester of 2012, with consideration to remain as summer intern.
 
Starting Salary:  $12.00 per hour

INSTRUCTORS(Group Exercise)

Coppell Aquatic and Recreation Center

 

The City of Coppell is accepting applications for Group Exercise Instructors.  Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent.  Previous teaching experience is preferred. Must be drug-free and clean criminal history.  Must have good communication skills and ability to deal with general public in a positive and courteous manner.  Must be safety conscious,  diplomatic and professional , and willing to follow rules and direction of supervisors.

In addition, the Group Exercise Instructor must have experience with health, fitness, sports, nutrition, and education.  The employee must also be certified by a nationally recognized organization in the specific area of expertise (i.e. group exercise leadership, seniors, youth, yoga, spin, etc.).

 

Starting Salary for the Group Exercise Instructor: $30.00 per hour

PARKS AND RECREATION
The City of Coppell is now accepting applications for Swim Instructors at the Coppell Aquatic and Recreation facility.  Minimum qualifications include aptitude and ability for the job, professional appearance, good character and dependability.  Must have swim instructor training/certification from a nationally recognized school or organization.  CPR is required.  WSI and lifeguard training are preferred.  Must be an efficient swimmer with prior experience conducting swim lessons for a reputable school, program, or organization under a Director’s supervision.  Must be punctual and have excellent organization skills.  Must be drug free and have a clean criminal history.  Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal with general public in a positive and courteous manner.  Must be safety conscious, diplomatic and professional. 
 
Starting Salary: $12.00 per hour.

SEASONAL LIFEGUARDS
COLLEGE STUDENTS WELCOME(Age 16 and up)
PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT
The City of Coppell is now accepting qualified applicants for the positions of Seasonal Lifeguard.  Applicants must be 16 years or older.
Minimum qualifications: swim a timed 200 yard crawl, perform Compact Jump from 48", perform feet-first rescue dive to 96" and bring 10 lb. brick safely to surface and tread water maintaining possession of the brick for 2 minutes without using hands. Must be able to obtain a valid Ellis & Associates Special Facilities Lifeguard License by date of employment.  This training will be held on site for a standard fee.  Training fees will be refunded to employees who complete the season. 
Must have a professional appearance (no visible tattoos or abstract body piercing), good character and dependability.  Must be drug-free and have a clean criminal history.  Must have good communication skills and ability to deal with the general public in a positive and courteous manner. Must be safety conscious and willing to follow rules and direction of supervisors.
 
Starting Salary: $9.66 per hour
