The Coppell Aquatic and Recreation Center lifeguards obtain their certification through Jeff Ellis & Associates, an international lifeguard training program. Ellis & Associates is retained by 90% of U.S. waterparks. What makes the Ellis & Associates program unique are its realistic training scenarios and simulations which better prepare lifeguards for real life emergency situations.
Ellis & Associates lifeguards complete an initial 22-hour certification class as well as an additional four hours of in-service training every month. The lifeguards' skills are consistently evaluated and audited to maintain optimal vigilance. The Coppell Aquatic and Recreation Center conducts drills using mannequins and live people on a daily basis.
We are proud to say we have two former members of our lifeguard staff that are 2008 Golden Guard Award Winners through Jeff Ellis & Associates.

Unofficial Ellis Guard GamesEvery year our lifeguard staff partners with NRH2O waterpark at the City of Garland, for the unofficial Ellis guard games. We have a great relationship with these two organizations and really enjoy our time with them celebrating what we do.
North Texas Guard GamesSelected lifeguards of the Coppell Aquatic and Recreation Center attend the North Texas Guard Games every year to compete against other lifeguard organizations. The games consist on scenarios and events that are designed to challenge your lifeguard team and their ability to problem solve, think outside the box, communicate and work as a team.
We had two teams that took on the challenge during the weekend of July 9-10, 2010.
